A Lasting Hope
God is sovereign and in complete control.
Because of that truth, there is always reason to hope—even in the darkest nights of the soul. Our hope is never secure in ourselves, another person, or a shifting circumstance, but in the everlasting God whose plan is to redeem all things, including our lives.
God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into this broken world to save it. Jesus lived the perfect life we could never live. He was arrested, crucified, and died on the cross, taking upon Himself all of our sin, pain, and hurt. Three days later, He rose from the grave, conquering death and hell so that we would be redeemed.
Because of this, our hope is not wishful thinking but a living reality. The life, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ prove that nothing—not sin, not suffering, not even death itself—can separate us from the love of God.
There is always hope in Jesus.
Jesus is present in the highs and lows and everywhere in between. When difficulties come—and they will—we must not be swayed to doubt God’s sovereignty. Our circumstances may change, but His faithfulness and His plan of redemption never will.
In recent years, I’ve experienced some of the lowest valleys of my life. As hard as those seasons were, God was teaching me that my hope had been misplaced. If our hope is tied to this world, then when suffering comes, we will doubt God’s goodness and grace. Why? Because our focus is on our circumstances rather than on Him. But when our hope rests in Jesus Christ—“the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8)—we find a foundation that cannot be shaken.
Our hope rests in a God who does not put us to shame, because His love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly (Romans 5:5–6).
In the Lord Jesus Christ, there is a lasting, forever hope—a hope that does not forget, fail, or fade away. So whatever season you find yourself in today, place your hope not in what changes, but in the One who never does.
